The Battle Within: How Interactions Between Our Archetypes
and Functions Affect Us

Carl Jung said that the opposite attitude functions were "incessantly at war" with each other. What does this mean with regard to personality type? This face-to-face workshop is the first ever to focus on the links between the Jungian mental processes and archetypes. Jungian analyst John Beebe will lead us to explore such questions as:
-
How does the Hero function (dominant) interact with the Anima/Animus function (inferior)? Examples: IS_J with EN_P or IN_J with ES_P.
-
Does our Witch/Senex function (6th) lead us down into our Trickster (7th)? Examples: IN_P with ES_J or I_FJ with E_TP.
-
How are Extraverted Intuition (Ne) and Introverted Intuition (Ni) shadows of each other?
All shadow aspects of all eight mental processes will be considered as workshop participants interact directly with Dr. John Beebe, the Jungian analyst who pioneered the Eight-Function Model.
Note: An audio recording will be provided to all attendees after the conference. When you register for this conference, you are agreeing to allow Type Resources to record and distribute the recording.

Jungian analyst John Beebe obtained his MD from Harvard, trained as a psychiatrist at Stanford, and is a past president of the C.G. Jung Institute of San Francisco. Beebe is the author of many books on psychiatry and psychotherapy, and he introduced his eight-function model to the type community at the 1993 APT Conference. Since that time, he has led the way to a new understanding of the works of Jung and Myers and Briggs by postulating the unconscious functions of each type through the emotions they bring.
